Q&A:

Should I pick more bowlers, batsmen or all-rounders?

In a contest between two teams wherein batting heavyweights such as David Warner, Shikhar Dhawan, Kane Williamson, Prithvi Shaw and a few others are going to clash, it will be wise to make the batting order stretch further than normal while selecting fast bowlers, who are likely to take wickets, for the fantasy playing XI. Delhi Capitals have some really exciting bowling in the form of Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan and even Marcus Stoinis to certain extent, whereas the Sunrisers Hyderabad have perhaps the best spinner in the tournament in Rashid Khan, backed by the senior India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar who looked returning to form in Sri Lanka.

From which team should I pick more players in my XI? Which team is stronger?

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a horrible time in India during the first leg of Indian T20 2021 tournament, wherein they went from one defeat to another while getting through an in-house fallout between their then captain Warner and the team management, which led to the exit of the Australian as their captain. Warner was not even played by Sunrisers Hyderabad after he was removed as the captain. Under Williamson, SRH certainly need an inspirational comeback which will be tough to stage against a team of the pedigree of Delhi Capitals, who are among the most ruthless bunch in the entire tournament. Delhi Capitals have a terrific batting line-up, a very promising bowling attack and enough depth in their playing XI as well as on the bench, to weather all kinds of storms. Indeed, Delhi Capitals are the better team and should have more players featuring in the fantasy playing XI.

MORE INFORMATION:

Players’ form: Dhawan did well during India’s tour of Sri Lanka last month but his exclusion from the Indian squad for the upcoming Cricket T20 World Cup 2021 should fire up the senior opening batsman to make more runs. Shaw can be very destructive, as seen during India’s tour of Sri Lanka, but one of the biggest attractions in this game will be Iyer, with the regular Delhi Capitals’ captain returning after spending time away nursing a shoulder injury. Warner would like to make the most of the chance and prove his mettle in the SRH camp which will be without Jonny Bairstow. SRH and India fast bowler Bhuvneshwar should add more to the firepower along with Rashid Khan. In the middle order, Manish Pandey will be holding an important role.

Changes in squad (if any): YES

LIKELY XIs:

Delhi Capitals (DC): Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Steven Smith, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c&wk), Marcus Stoinis, Akshar Patel, R Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH): David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Kedhar Jadhav, Vijay Shankar, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan.

FANTASY XI:

Shikhar Dhawan (vc), David Warner (c), Kane Williamson, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Manish Pandey, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Avesh Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin.

Delhi Capitals resume quest for maiden title as SRH eye revival

Dethroned from the top spot in the in Indian T20 2021 points table by Chennai Super Kings who recorded a victory in their first match of the second leg, Delhi Capitals will be inspired to make most of the struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Match No 33 of the tournament to be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night.

Delhi Capitals are one of the favourites to win the Indian T20 2021 title this year for they have tremendous firepower in their ranks and are priming up well for having a shot at the ultimate prize. Delhi Capitals are currently placed second in the Indian T20 2021 points table with 6 wins in 8 matches giving them 12 points, with a healthy Net Run Rate of 0.547.

The Capitals will be taking on the Indian T20 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had a horrendous time in the first leg in India. In 7 matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad could win only 1 while they lost 6 to slip down to the bottom of the pool, with only 2 points in their kitty and a negative NRR of -0.623.

Delhi Capitals, the finalists of the last year, have been bolstered by the return of their regular captain Iyer after nursing a shoulder injury due to which he had missed the first leg of Indian T20 2021. While Iyer remains their regular skipper, Delhi Capitals have decided to continue with the stand-in captain, Rishabh Pant, for the remainder of Indian T20 2021. With the burden of captaincy off his shoulders for the season, Iyer will concentrate on getting back among runs and re-establishing himself as one of the most feared batsmen in the competition.

Delhi Capitals will also be without the services of England all-rounder Chris Woakes, M Siddharth and Anirudh Joshi while they also have Ben Dwarshuis and Kulwant Khejroliya coming into the side.

Avesh Khan has emerged as one of the most important bowlers for  Delhi Capitals, who also have two very potent spinners in Akshar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin. It remains to be seen if the pair of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje will team up again after their impressive performances together, last year in Indian T20 2020 in the UAE.

On the other hand, the struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to bring in Warner at the top of the order and pair him up with one among Wriddhiman Saha or Williamson, given that Bairstow is missing the second leg of Indian T20 2021. After Warner was removed as the captain of the franchisee, the explosive Australian batsman was not even selected for the matches that followed, which in a way indicated that all was not well within the SRH camp.

However, a few months on from the tumultuous time which SRH spent in India, it can be expected that tempers are settled down by now and the team is working in unison to improve their fortunes this season. SRH have never endured such a poor season in the past and the only way is moving up hereon.

In place of Bairstow, SRH have brought in the explosive Caribbean batsman Sherfane Rutherford, who was in red-hot form during the recently concluded CPL 2021. Rashid Khan and Jason Holder are two other important overseas players with SRH also giving Mohammad Nabi opportunities now and then.
