Shardul Thakur came to India’s aid as the 30-year-old’s figures of 7/61 helped India bowl out South Africa on Day 2 of the second Test. It was Shardul’s maiden five-wicket haul in international cricket, and the Proteas could only grab a 27-run first-innings lead. He struck thrice in the first session and completed the five-wicket haul with the wicket of Temba Bavuma, who had scored a quick-fire half-century.
